BiP Solutions Ltd is a medium-sized, Glasgow-based organisation expert in facilitating business between the public and private sector.

Our resourcing strategy is centered on recruiting Graduate Developers and providing them with a structured development programme focused on enhancing their technical skill-set within a commercial organisation. As part of our growth strategy for the financial year 2014-15, we are actively looking to recruit new Developers who are due to graduate this summer.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic graduate(s) with an understanding of fundamental Object Oriented principles whose main purpose will be to program internal and external applications. The successful candidate will be required to understand and continue to develop their skill set in line with BiP’s standard programming and hosting environment.
 Projects are generally web based and undertaken within a Java (Spring and Hibernate) environment. Most legacy applications are comprised of Perl / CGI scripts with MySQL and Oracle database backends. The development environment is variable and is often changed or dictated by our clients’ needs and requirements. The successful candidate will be required to continue to broaden and strengthen their development skills throughout their career.
 The core function will be to develop, test and extend applications and associated databases. The role will also include supporting assigned products / services and projects as well as debugging or troubleshooting existing applications. There is also a requirement to understand the current Project Management system and related documentation.
The preferred programming skill set will include at least one of the following: Java, Perl, MySQL and Oracle. In addition to their technical skill set, the successful applicant will also have strong communication skills, be self-motivated and have first-class organisation and reporting skills.

Your Job

As an Engineer within the KANA research and development team you will:

Placement of the Week – IT Service Desk Placement

This role involves providing an excellent level of first line infrastructure support to 600+ users in our office. The service will be delivered remotely from your desk in the majority of cases, but on some occasions it may be necessary to go to a user’s desk for physical fault finding or hardware replacement activity. You will manage requests for assistance from the point of logging through to successful closure and against service level agreements. You will work both individually and also as part of a larger support team.

You will be responsible for providing 1st line desktop and infrastructure support to 600+ users in our office.
You will provide support on Windows desktops and laptops, both office network connected and also users connecting via VPN.
You will provide support on general office productivity applications such as Microsoft Office, Visio, Adobe etc.
You will assist users with their use of the office printing infrastructure.
You will help staff up the Service Desk and record users requests for assistance in the Service Desk system.

You will be proficient and knowledgeable in PC desktop operating systems and standard office productivity applications, with a good grasp of networking, communications and Internet based technologies. Excellent communications skills are a requirement of this role, both written and verbal (via the telephone and face to face). You will be able to work individually with minimum supervision but also you will be comfortable working as part of a larger team of support professionals. You will provide first class customer service and help the team achieve a rapid turnaround on all technical issues involving users and infrastructure. You will be able to prioritise competing demands on your time and you will deliver to tight deadlines. You will be keen to learn and develop new skills and will be enthusiastic in your outlook.

The Discount Displays Scholarship, awarded by a leading supplier of display and graphics products. We are proud to offer these annual scholarships to help students reach their full potential in their studies.

The aim of our scholarship is to recognise the skill required to create successful and exciting marketing & graphic design campaigns in today’s marketplace. We will be awarding £1,000 to the student who demonstrates passion and talent for their subject. Our scholarship is open to all UK based undergraduate students who are enrolled on a graphic design, marketing or business related subject.

As well as the financial package, the recipient of the scholarship will also get long term mentoring, industry advice and promotion through our various marketing channels.

Eligibility

The scholarship is available to all undergraduate students who will be enrolled in a graphic design, marketing or business related course for the 2014/2015 academic year. Applicants must be attending a UK based university.

Students must be able to prove they are enrolled at a UK based university. This proof is to be attached along with the application. The deadline for applications is Wednesday 10th September 2014.

Sessional Interviewer – School of Cultural & Creative Industries

Sessional Interviewer – fixed term 1 month – £8.25 per hour

We are seeking to recruit a pool of researchers to assist the research team undertaking a study titled “Leveraging Parasport Events for Sustainable Community Participation” the Sessional Interviewer are required during the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, from 27th July to 3rd August to undertake survey work focused on spectators attending Para-sport events during the Glasgow 2014 Games.

Ideally, applicants should have experience of working with members of the public in a research capacity. Awareness of the issues facing people with a disability in accessing opportunities to participate in sport would be desirable.
