STEM Awards: your chance to win £25,000

The Telegraph in association with Babcock International Group are running and exciting opportunity for STEM students to submit an innovative idea to help make positive changes within industry.

Enter your brilliant idea for The Telegraph UK STEM Awards.

Focusing on one of five STEM sectors, you can set yourself a challenge that complements your field of study, or answer a set question for the expert judges’ analysis. Points will be awarded for innovation, financial viability and the idea’s benefit to society and the environment.

The overall winner, whether it’s an individual or a team, will receive £25,000 and a bespoke mentoring programme from a senior engineer within Babcock International Group. The award will be presented at a dedicated ceremony in London during Universities Week in June 2014.

Why not rev up your career prospects by attending one of our Kick Start your Career session with the help of The Careers and Employability Service.

 

These sessions are specifically designed for students leaving and seeking employment.  These motivational sessions will help you look at what you can offer an employer and how to communicate your message along with key job sources.

SAUWS’ is looking to recruit a group of bright, enthusiastic and friendly students to help deliver the #Freshers’14 week of activities in September 2014.

 

If you like getting involved in events, meeting new people and working in a fun environment then being a Fresher’s Volunteer will be perfect for you.

 

Freshers’ Volunteers will help set up & promote #Freshers’14 events & activities, as well as helping SAUWS plan our events calender. In return we’ll give you a free #Freshers’14 pack with a freshers t-shirt, hoody and loads of other freebies for the week!

Commonwealth Games – Ceremony Cast Opportunities

On July 23 the Opening Ceremony of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games will officially launch Glasgow and Scotland’s biggest-ever festival of sport and culture. At the heart of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be the 3000 people who will make up the cast which will be performing on these unforgettable occasions – and you could be one of them. It’ll be a once in a lifetime opportunity to get involved in one of Glasgow’s biggest ever parties.

We are very keen for colleges and universities sports groups, student associations and any individuals to take part in this exciting opportunity.

Brand new auditions will take place at the end of April, and we are particularly interested in male volunteers, and people under 45.  If you missed out on the first lot of auditions back in March, this is your last chance to get involved.  The group auditions are energetic, fun and all you need is bags of enthusiasm, and a bit of commitment to attend rehearsals.

You don’t need to have previous experience as we will teach you all you need to know..  Bring your personality, commitment and maybe even a friend along to one of our group auditions and start the experience of a lifetime. Apply by 18 April here.

The funding will be independently administered by Volunteer Scotland and Voluntary Arts Scotland which has developed detailed application criteria. Scottish Institute for Enterprise – Student Intern

20 positions – up to 10 hours/week term time only. £7.50 per hour

As part of our continued growth in driving forward Scotland’s enterprise agenda, the Scottish Institute for Enterprise (SIE) requires Student Interns (x20) to join the team in this exciting project.

Each position will be available for a current, fully matriculated student at each of our partner Scottish Higher Education Institutions.  The successful applicants will be responsible for providing promotional support to SIE on campus, along with institutional entrepreneurship activities, researching existing enterprise and entrepreneurship education and initiatives at their institution and overall, acting as a student face of SIE and institutional enterprise activity.  Applicants should have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work on their own initiative.

Applicants will also have genuine enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and SIE’s goal of increasing the uptake of entrepreneurial activity and education amongst the student population in Scotland’s HEIs.
