Calling Recent Graduates

Work Experience? Travel? Further Study? – Combine all 3 and spice up your CV!

An exciting opportunity for UK graduates to take part in a unique work placement programme in India.

The UK India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI) is offering a work placement programme commencing from January 2013 which will be delivered by The University of Dundee and Sannam S4.  A Global Internship Graduate Certificate India (GIGCI) will be offered on successful completion of the programme. The 6 month programme allows students to participate in paid internships with multi-national employers in India.

The UKIERI Work Placement Programme is aimed at recent graduates or postgraduates from any UK University.

Applicants for the programme will:

  •          Hold a UK passport
  •          Ideally hold a Masters degree or a minimum of a good Honours degree in any subject discipline
  •          Be in the first stage of their working life and within two years of graduation
  •          Be eligible to receive an Indian tourist visa

The Global Internship Certificate India (GIGCI) builds on the success of the University of Dundee’s Scottish Internship Graduate Certificate (SIGC) which has been running since 2009.

Students will attend an induction at Dundee University before flying out to India. They will then undertake career planning modules and a 3 to 5 month internship with a multi national organisation.

Interviews for the January intake will be carried out in November 2012.

If you have any questions regarding the programme, please send your enquiry to: or Dr Lynsay Pickering (GIGCI co-ordinator) on 01382 384017.

Are you the Undergraduate of the Year?

The TARGETjobs Undergraduate of the Year Awards launched four years ago and have grown to feature 12 awards and, for the 2012 competition, were entered by more than 4,000 students from over 100 different universities.

The Awards were set up to identify and celebrate the UK’s best undergraduates in specific areas, like subject of degree (law, engineering etc), year group (first years) or other categories (future leaders, women, commercial excellence). Being the best means having a combination of academic excellence, the ability to pass a series of difficult online assessments, good written communication and finally the interpersonal skills necessary to compete with other students in assessment centres run by the sponsoring organisation. The final shortlist of ten are invited to the Awards event in London in April where the winners are announced.

Each award is sponsored by a prominent graduate recruiter who provides a fantastic prize for the winner, including a paid internship.

Each award has clearly stated entry criteria, including year of study and minimum educational requirement. Students who don’t meet the entry criteria will not be considered.

Undergraduates from all UK universities are eligible – if you meet the entry criteria – and past winners have come from over 30 different universities.
