National Careers Week 2012 – 5th-9th March

National Careers Week is a celebration of Careers Education, Information, Advice & Guidance. Your UWS Careers Service have various events and activities taking place during this week and we hope to see many of you there!

Ayr Campus

Monday 5th March – What can I do with my degree?
11am-1pm The Atrium
A Careers Service drop-in session to help you explore your options.

Monday 5th March – Open Afternoon – Meet the Careers Team
2pm-4pm Job Shop (Room 3.04)
An opportunity to come along and informally meet your friendly Careers Team… find out a bit about what we can do to help you with your career. Free drinks and snacks will be available.

Wednesday 7th March – Social Media for Your Career – Part of UWS Interactive Festival
2pm-4pm Starbucks Coffee Space
Employers are increasingly using social media to check out candidates before offering them a job, and some are actively using social networks to find new employees.  So, in a competitive jobs market, you really need to make sure that you are utilising social media effectively. Come along to this drop-in social media surgery to find out more.

Thursday 8th March – How to Bag that Job
10.30am-2.30pm Job Shop (Room 3.04)
Come along and chat to the staff, and grab a bag of goodies with lots of useful information on finding and applying for jobs… and a few freebies too!

A practical workshop looking at how to put together a CV that will help you stand out from the crowd.

Hamilton Campus

11am-12pm Room E312
This interactive workshop will help you to analyse your skills, understand your strengths and get you thinking about examples from your experience that evidence your qualities so that you can write about your skills in your CV and speak confidently to an employer about your skills.

The Spring Graduate Fair in Scotland 2012

The Spring Graduate Fair in Scotland is back again this year with over 50 exhibitors, skills workshops, careers advice and much more! Presentations by Morgan Stanley, Google and others include advice on CV checks and how to impress the interview panel. Visitors will get a chance to find out about graduate recruitment opportunities, internships and volunteering from companies and organisations present.

The event is organised by the Careers Service, University of Glasgow in conjunction with AGCAS (The Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services) and we are delighted to announce Morgan Stanley as the main sponsor and Graduate Prospects as our additional sponsor.

The event is free to attend, so arrive early to make sure you have enough time to visit all the stands!
